Programme
Overview
Experience Cherry Ge’s masterful piano recital featuring Prokofiev’s fleeting visions, Barber’s refined American blues and swing, and Messiaen’s vivid bird portraits—all for just £10. An evening of shimmering contrasts and emotive depth awaits.Emerging pianist Cherry Ge, currently pursuing her Master’s at the Royal Academy of Music, invites you to a programme of dazzling 20th-century soundscapes and vivid imagery. She opens with Prokofiev’s Fleeting Visions, where crystalline motifs drift through dream-like harmonic shifts, then seamlessly transitions to Barber’s witty, refined Essays in American Blues and Swing, blending jazz-inflected rhythms with lyrical poise. The recital culminates in Messiaen’s Portraits of the Oriole and the Curlew, in which Ge conjures bright song and haunting calls through luminous chords and hushed introspection. Throughout the evening, her nuanced touch and expressive command transform each work into an evocative journey, guiding listeners from shimmering reverie to spirited grooves and serene natural panoramas.
