Take your time to scrutinize every detail, learn about the systems used to operate the submarine, and imagine the life of the crew members represented through the rooms they lived, worked, and ate in.Also, you will explore Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark. Since its launch in 1943, the legendary aircraft carrier was attacked by a kamikaze five times and one time by a torpedo. However, it survived World War II and continued to serve during the Cold War and the Vietnam War. In 1974, it was deactivated and put to "rest" until it became a museum.You will go through a few decks of the ship where you can touch its hardware and equipment. Don't miss the Anchor Chain Room providing a unique experience to enter the hidden space of the ship! After that, you will see restored aircraft and get to know their military significance. Throughout the tour, you will learn the history of the U.S. Marine and Air Forces and hear interesting historical facts.
