Inspired by the elegant simplicity of mathematics, physics and code, Perich’s composition unfolds through pulsating rhythmic loops that echo the minimalist legacies of Steve Reich and Philip Glass while charting entirely new sonic territories. Under James McVinnie’s fearless direction, four subwoofers and nearly a hundred speaker enclosures transform the medieval stone vaults of St Giles-without-Cripplegate into a living instrument, as low-frequency waves ripple through the nave and shimmering tones interplay with ancient architecture. Each movement delves deeper into a dynamic soundscape where tradition and technological innovation converge, enveloping the audience in a visceral encounter with music’s most elemental forces.
