British-Hong Kong composer Nicola T. Chang crafts a bold new score for Western orchestra and traditional Chinese instruments, forging a vivid dialogue that spans themes of identity, belonging and language. As string players weave with erhu and pipa textures, Chan’s urgent, intimate verses transform into adventurous, tender soundscapes that explore the tension between silence and sound. This collaboration between CLS and Faber transcends conventional concert format, inviting audiences into an emotional journey where poetry breathes and melodies speak.
